Kiwis use around 300 million takeaway coffee cups each year. Most of these are sent straight to landfill as they are not reusable and cannot be recycled.
If you’ve seen the images published in the Independent of the ‘plastic island’ floating in the Caribbean, seemingly made up of endless mounds of food packaging, plastic bags, plastic straws and takeaway cups - you’d vow to never buy a takeaway coffee cup again.
Paper cups, often promoted as recyclable or compostable are often lined with plastic to stop the liquid spilling and cannot actually be recycled. Recyclable cups are not the answer, reusable cups are.
We are big coffee drinkers, and are not unfamiliar with reusable coffee cups, trust us, we’ve tried a lot! But no cups lived up to our expectations. They either leaked, or were too big to fit in your car drink holder, or under a barista coffee machine, or worst of all they were either too hot to handle, or they didn’t hold the heat – cold coffee? No thanks.
So what were we to do? Design our own of course – introducing the forever cup!
Our cup is different from traditional reusable cups in so many ways.
It is leak proof - saving your clothes and you from disaster! As a mum of four children, this was so important to me. I’m always juggling keys, phones, kids jackets, school bags, dance bags, sports bags, swimming bags the list goes on – the last thing you need is coffee spilling from your cup. That's why our cups are designed to be chucked around, thrown in your handbag, even tipped upside down - they will not spill!
Our cups are double walled stainless steel - you can comfortably hold it with no burnt hands. This also makes it great for children’s hot drinks in winter.
The doubIe walled stainless steel also keeps your drinks hotter for longer, compared to takeaway cups or other reusable cups - or even cooler for longer if you prefer to use it for cold drinks.
And (very important) it fits under a baristas coffee machine with ease.
Our double walled stainless steel cups won't sweat with condensation so no need for coasters and no more water marks on your desk or in your car.
Our cups come in two beautiful colours – rose gold or silver and 304 stainless steel is fully recyclable in metal recycling at the end of its life.
Forever cups are also dishwasher safe.
